Ed Rieker (Founder)

Ed is a business owner and entrepreneur who has a successful track record starting, building and selling software businesses. During the last 20 years, he has been the founder or co-founder of four heathcare software firms, two of which have been acquired by public companies. Recently, he experienced another success when PbNation.com, a company he acquired in 2003, was purchased by a public company.

He has served on the staff of the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) as a Venture Catalyst and has served as an Entrepreneur in Residence. He is currently an ATDC Executive in Residence.

Mr. Rieker is a co-inventor of the 1998 patent for an “Automated System and Method for Providing Real-Time Verification of Health Insurance Eligibility.” He received his MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

He is also the current Mayor of Avondale Estates, Georgia where he lives with his wife and daughter.

American Medical Data Corporation, Founder: – IntelliScan™ Patient Card System, a high density bar code patient card developed for the healthcare industry, AMDC was sold to private investors 1991

National Verification Systems LLC, Cofounder: – A Georgia-based company that developed and sold the VeriQuest™ Eligibility Verification System to large U.S. healthcare providers. In September of 1996, NVS was purchased by public company, Envoy-NEIC — later acquired by WebMD.

Officemed.com, LLC, Cofounder: – An internet application service provider specializing in the real-time delivery of healthcare insurance transactions to its customers. Founded in 1998, Officemed.com was purchased by publicly traded Per-Sé Technologies in April 2001. Officemed.com was one of nine companies recognized as graduates from the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) in 2002.

PbNation LLC, Partner: - With over 600,000 unique visitors and 22 million page views a month PbNation.com is the largest interactive sports community on the Internet. The main focus of the site is the extreme sport of paintball with an additional 30% of the site content related to the interests of the young, male demographic using the site. The site was purchased in May, 2011 by publicly traded Crowdgather.
